Sitka Sea Kayaking Adventure
(3 hours) Passing by Sitka and the surrounding mountains, you
will be taken by zodiac raft to a floating kayak dock. Upon arrival,
safety and paddling instruction will be given before boarding
the 2-person kayaks. Led by a guide along the waterways, you will
see such unique attractions as colorful invertebrates, eagles,
bears, deer and the lush rain forest. You will paddle for 1 1/2
hours before returning to the floating dock for a snack
Sitka Sportfishing
(4 hours) Join our captain for a great day of sportfishing on
board a fully equipped cabin cruiser as you go after "the big
one". Your catch, halibut or salmon will be cleaned on board;
processing and shipping is available for a fee.
NOTE: Alaska law requires a 1-day fishing license and a King
Salmon stamp ($20 total) whichmay be purchased on board.
Historical Sitka
(3 hours) Until it was purchased by the U.S. in 1867, Alaska was
explored and ruled by Czarist Russia. This tour begins with a
drive through Sitka's historical areas such as the Russian Cemetery,
Blockhouse and Castle Hill; stops include St. Michael's Cathedral
and the Sitka National Historical Park, the site of the 1804 Battle
of Alaska. This park hosts totem-lined walking trails as well
as cultural exhibits. The tour concludes with an authentic Russian
Folk Dance.
Historic Russian America
and Raptor
3 1/4 hours) This tour combines the historical highlights of this
former "Russian Capital" city with a visit to the Bald Eagle Raptor
Center, where you will learn how the program works from capture
to rehabilitation care and hopeful release of the birds back to
the wild. The tour continues with a drive through Sitka's historical
areas such as the Russian Cemetery, Blockhouse and Castle Hill;
stops include St. Michael's Cathedral and the Sitka National Historical
Park, the site of the 1804 Battle of Alaska. This park hosts totem-lined
walking trails as well as cultural exhibits. The tour concludes
with an authentic Russian Folk Dance
Silver Bay Cruise
(2 hours) Historical landmarks and the scenic splendor of fjords
serve as the backdrop for stories about native culture, explorers
and gold seekers. You will see the site of the 1804 Battle of
Alaska, the Liberty Prospect Mine and the rainforest-draped shore.
The Captain will point out the wildlife sighted along the way,
such as seals, sea lions, deer, bears and sometimes whales. Snacks
will be provided as well as admission to St. Michael's Cathedral.
Sea Otter and Wildlife
Quest
(3 hours) Aboard vessels designed to navigate narrow passages
inaccessible to larger vessels allows for spectacular wildlife
viewing at close range, such as bald eagles, otters, whales, porpoise,
seals, sea lions, bears and deer. A naturalist will explain the
habits and habitat of the wildlife you may encounter. Snacks will
be provided as well as admission to St. Michael's Cathedral in
downtown Sitka, if you choose to visit after this journey.
Sitka Seaplane Adventure
(2 hours) Explore this historic region on a 45 minute flight,
from the water of Sitka Sound to the lofty peaks and hanging glaciers
that form this towns dramatic backdrop. En route to the dock,
you will be acquainted with Sitka's dual Russian and native heritage.
Upon take-off, view the hundreds of small islands dotting the
sparkling waters and home to thousands of seals and sea lions.
Carpeted hills and ridges in lush green forest roll down to the
sea as glaciers and lakes crown the surrounding peaks. Midway
through, enjoy the thrill of landing on a remote alpine lake or
protected waters of a narrow fjord. Here you can step out onto
the floats and drink in the incredible sights that surround you.
Throughout the flight, you will be entertained with an informative
narrative by the flight crew. You will experience the Alaska few
ever hope to see, and take home memories that will last a lifetime.
